About Lake Toxaway

Lake Toxaway is the largest private lake in North Carolina, with an area of 640 acres and 14 miles of shoreline. It is filled by multiple free-flowing mountain streams, the largest of which is the Toxaway River. Because Lake Toxaway is not used as a reservoir or to generate power, residents enjoy a constant water level at 3,010 feet above sea level.

Swimming, boating, skiing, sailing, and fishing, among other activities, are enough to keep even the most active of individuals and families entertained. Just across its upstream dam lies Lake Cardinal at 65 acres in size, which provides additional opportunities for aquatic enjoyment.

Located in the heart of Western North Carolina and less than 200 miles from Charlotte, Columbia, and Atlanta, a combination of warm Southern hospitality and breathtaking scenery make Lake Toxaway the perfect backdrop for a mountain get-away or permanent residence.
