Our Area
While there are plenty of things to do in and around the lake itself—and especially at the Club—our community is surrounded by opportunities for dining, shopping, culture, and adventures.
Lake Toxaway is surrounded by more than 10,000 acres of wilderness areas and mountain peaks rising to more than 4,700 feet in elevation. Gorges State Park, Nantahala National Forest, and Pisgah National Forest, are located right around Lake Toxaway, and more state and national parks—such as the Blue Ridge Parkway—are just a short drive away. These natural areas are literally filled with waterfalls and provide a great opportunity for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, biking, and river adventures.

Located near the entrance to Pisgah National Forest, Brevard is called the Land of the Waterfalls” for good reason: the county is home to more than 250 waterfalls. With an extensive local music and arts community, Brevard is home to Brevard College, a four-year liberal arts institution with nationally recognized programs in music and environmental studies, and the Brevard Music Center, one of the nation’s preeminent summer music teaching and performance institutions.
